Caring yet demanding, read our profile of Nelly GRASSET in her role as Head of Supply Chain and Purchase at the NewBuntu Group.
Could you tell us about your career path?
My career path wasn’t what I’d originally envisaged. I wanted to become a maths teacher, but life had other plans. I therefore decided to change direction, studying for a Master’s in Business and Economics (AES) followed by a Master’s in Procurement, and that’s where I discovered my true calling.Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to work in a wide variety of environments: large corporations, SMEs, micro-enterprises, operating at a European or international level. This diversity has enabled me to develop a holistic view of the business and to understand what truly motivates me: building connections between teams, structuring organisations and supporting their development. Over the years, my remit has naturally expanded from procurement to supply chain management, processes and continuous improvement, allowing me to gain an ever more cross-functional perspective on the challenges facing the business.
What is your current role, what are your responsibilities, and how long have you been with NewBuntu?
I joined the NewBuntu Group in mid-April as Group Supply Chain & Procurement Manager. My role mainly involves standardising practices, structuring processes and supporting the development of the Group’s various companies. I also play a more hands-on role at JENOPTEC NT in procurement and sourcing to safeguard and support day-to-day operations. What do you enjoy most about your job?
Diversity!Every day is different: the markets, suppliers, technologies, organisations and people we encounter mean we have to keep learning. This richness makes the job exciting and encourages us to constantly challenge ourselves.
Three words that describe you
Kindness – Fairness – High StandardsWhat are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
I love motor sports, but I also enjoy spending time with friends, travelling, and any opportunity to meet new people or discover new places. If you were a dish, you’d be…?
Pasta! Whatever the recipe, shape or accompaniment: pasta is something everyone can agree on and it suits every occasion. Come to think of it, perhaps it’s just my adaptable side speaking!
Is there a quote, a book or a film that inspires you?
Sun Tzu’s "The Art of War", which I discovered during a geopolitics lecture at university. Beyond its military aspects, it is a fascinating book on foresight, strategy and understanding one’s environment. And as it’s also important to keep a sense of light-heartedness: ‘Don’t leave the baby in a corner’. Film buffs will recognise the reference!
